1. e4 e6 Ah the French. I can play the Steinitz variation e5 d5 exd e.p. 2. e5 c5 What's this? I was trying to get him out of the normal lines, but now he's done it to me. At least I've never seen it before. 3. Nf3 Nc6 4. Bc4 Usual stuff. When in doubt attack f7. 4... d5 Oh great. I can still play the e.p. 5. exd6 Bxd6 I thought long and hard about this next move. My idea was that after double exchange on d4, my queen is hitting his g7 pawn and if his bishop moves, I exchange queens so he can't castle. Sounds good? Read on. 6. d4 cxd4 7. Nxd4 Nxd4 8. Qxd4 This was the position I was aiming for. Unfortunately..... 8... Bb4+ 9. c3 I just hoped he wouldn't see the next move. You never know. 9... Qxd4 White resigns. 0-1 |
