1. e4 c5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. Nf3 d6 4. Bc4 Ng5 if he doesn't stop it.
4... e6 5. O-O I know this guy is better than me, so play safe. This is probably my first mistake.
5... Nf6 6. Re1 a6 Wimpy move, but I don't want ...b5 so...
7. a4 Qc7 He must have seen my combination d4 cd, Nxd4, Nxd4, Bg5. I don't know if this works, but he's stopped it, so start to play it anyway.
8. d4 cxd4 9. Nxd4 Be7 Can't see anything to attack, so retreat temporarily.
10. Nf3 O-O 11. Bd3 The bishop is no good where it was. One day it may be able to sac on h7.
11... Bd7 12. Bg5 h6 13. Bh4 Trying to tempt g5
13... Rac8 14. Bg3 In case he tries d5
14... e5 Centre blocked. Next move threatens Nd5
15. Bh4 Bg4 16. Bxf6 Bxf6 17. Nd5 Fantastic! He's let me get a great square for my knight. I must be winning!
17... Qd8 He's on the retreat. Keep pushing him back.
18. h3 Be6 19. Re3 Idea is to get both rooks across to k side
19... Bxd5 20. exd5 Nb4 21. Be4 That centre pawn is worth hanging on to.
21... a5 22. Nh2 This N is aiming at g4, followed by Nxf6 and Rg3ch
22... Rc7 23. Ng4 Bg5 24. Rg3 Trying for Nxh6 Bxh6, Rxg7ch Bxg7, Qh5 with forced mate. Or is it?
24... f5 I overlooked the pawn fork as usual. never mind, sac anyway.
25. Nxh6+ Bxh6 26. Qh5 If ....fxe4, Qxh6.
26... Kh8 27. Bxf5 2 pawns for the knight now, and I'm on a roll.
27... Qf6 28. Be6 Qxf2+ No problem
29. Kh2 Qf6 30. Raa3 Qe7 Around here is when I went wrong. It is horrendously complicated, but maybe something like Rg6 would have been better?
31. Raf3 Rc4 I had been planning Rg6, but Rh4 means my queen is trapped.
32. Bf5 Adjourned. I was afraid he sealed Rh4, which would force Qg6 followed by Bf4 which forces me to lose the exchange. Luckily he sealed the following move.
32... Rf6 It's highly complicated now, but having looked this over, I can't see a win for me. The best I can hope for is that he makes a mistake (and there are lots of traps and tactics)
33. Rg6 Nxd5 I couldn't play Rf3-g3 because of Nf4
34. Rxf6 This seemed to be the best move to me. If he took with anything else, I had good chances.
34... Nxf6 35. Qg6 Qe8 The last point where I had a chance.Queen either retreats or swaps. The swap gives me an opportunity of a mate. e.g. Qxe8 Nxe8, Bg6 and then Rf8 mate.
36. Qxe8+ Nxe8 37. Bd3 I thought this was best as I imagined that he would have to play Nf6 or Kg8 and then I win a rook. I missed his reply.
37... Rf4 38. Rg3 Rf8 39. Rg4 He's still on the defensive, but I've given up on the mate. Try to pick up a few pawns.
39... Nf6 40. Rc4 d5 41. Rc7 This is ok. I should get at leats a pawn, and then promote one of my q-side pawns.
41... e4 42. Bb5 Bf4+ Sh*t. Oh well, it was probably lost anyway, and I gave him a run for his money. white resigns.
