1. e4 e6 2. e5 The Steinitz variation. Theoretically unsound I expect, but it gets the boring French players out of what they know.
2... d5 3. exd6 Bxd6 I only know it this far, so I'm making it up now, but presumably so is he.
4. d4 Nc6 5. Nf3 Bd7 That's pretty defensive. I have a number of options here. Qe2 or d5 for instance.
6. c4 Bb4+ 7. Nc3 Bxc3+ 8. bxc3 This is looking good. I have two bishops, and a strong centre.
8... Nge7 Hmm. He's going to castle. I hate that. Not sporting at all.
9. d5 Na5 10. Ba3 Threat Bb4 amongst other things.
10... O-O 11. d6 cxd6 12. Qxd6 Looking good.
12... Re8 13. Ne5 Bc6 Bb4 immediately might have won a piece
14. c5 Nf5 15. Qxd8 No choice
15... Raxd8 16. Bb4 I still think I'm winning a piece. e.g. ...b6, cb ab, Bxa5 bxa5, Nxc6
16... Rd5 If I move the knight, the piece win doesn't work
17. f4 f6 18. Bxa5 fxe5 I'm now losing a pawn if I'm not careful. The next move should drive his R back to d7 and then I've got the initiative again.
19. Bc4 Rxc5 Until recently I've been saying that I couldn't remmeber the last time I gave a piece away, and now it seems to be every game!
20. Bxe6+ Rxe6 21. Bb4 exf4+ 22. Kf2 Rce5 In a bit of trouble now
23. Rhf1 This is because I have a possible mate on f8, and I won't resign till there's no chance of that.
23... Re2+ 24. Kg1 Forced
24... Rxg2+ 25. Kh1 Forced
25... Ree2 26. Rxf4 Rg4+ He must have seen my mate. Resigns.
